[de]lurk

apparently now's the time: say hello, yodel, send a passenger pigeon (or the equally extinct western union telegram?)! I'd like to know who you are, that you're out there, where you came from, the best thing you've seen today, your favorite color, what you love. Any, all, whatever.

I'm Éireann, I make things, I'm in love with stripes, plaid, flowered lawn, and herringbone (together, too!), and I'm heading to Paris for the weekend. Nice to meet you.

Go.

Wow - I have a lot of delurking to do! I'm Rita. I also love herringbone.
I just moved back to Vancouver after a stint in Scotland and am sloooowly adjusting to being back. Best things? It snowed yesterday afternoon. Great, fat flakes at dusk, and then the sun shone today, and the mountains were purple.

Salut, Eireann. I've been reading your blog for some time now. Over time, I've come to realize just why I enjoy your blog so much: we have beaucoup de choses in common.

I love books, art, sewing, cats, figure skating, languages, anime, traveling, pink and lavender, Monet, hydrangeas, Japan.... Paris is my favorite city in the world! About ten years ago, I lived in France for a year, and it was the loneliest, loveliest year of my life.

I'm a writer by profession (one published book and currently finishing my first novel). Kudos on your forthcoming collection!

Okay fine. I'm Kaitlin. I found your blog because a mutual friend who shall remain nameless (he helped you move with his van) gave me your card, thinking that you could give me some sewing advice. I never sought that advice, but I've been reading your blog. I taught English in Normandy a few years ago, so we have that in common. I'm not nearly as talented of a crafter, though, but I am inspired. You do lovely things.

I've commented before, but I'm Amy. In Kansas. The best thing I saw today was my daughter's face when I came home from work (and hearing her say "Mommy" with such excitement was the best thing I heard). My favorite color is blue, from gray to aqua -- ocean colors. I love clay in my hands, fragrant English roses, modern florals and stripes, freshly laundered sheets, London, peanut butter, and countless other happies.

Enjoy Paris!

I'm Malin, living in Sweden. Best thing I saw today was an empty living room floor - I left D. there last night, with a crashed server (hostile overtake) and my computer spread out before him in pieces. When I woke this morning he was gone and almost everything worked again. He's amazing.

I don't have a favourite color but I do love little things, cheese and travelling - we're heading to Thailand on monday and staying for a whole month! It's going to be heaven.

I like your blog, haven't been lurking very long but enjoying it so far.

Hi, I'm Isabel. I'm a French-Spanish quilter who's just started knitting. RIght know I'm very much into japanese needlecrafts, Tweed (the fabric, not the yarn) and entrelac knitting (just trying to figure out how to do that). I don't have a favorite color, I love them all! And the best thing I've seen today is your blog, so far, which I have been reading for a couple months now and that I love.

Hello, there. I'm Carmen. I live in Toronto with my own little pack of males. This morning I bathed my boys and reveled in the softness of their skin and their giggles and squeals. It filled me up with goodness. I love fabrics and patterns of all sorts. I love, love, love colour - right now it's orange that I'm obsessing about - deep shades, pale shades, it doesn't matter much to me. Just gimme some orange. I love the ocean and miss it terribly. Planning a trip to Portugal this summer so I'll definitely be tasting the salty sea on my lips soon.

I've been lurking here a long time. It's nice to finally "meet".

I like happy colors, polaroids, thrifting, laughing with friends and family, good sushi, strong coffee, sewing, museums, walking in big cities, poetry readings, knitting, dreaming, sketching, good chai lattes, and music that makes me feel a deep emotion. Probably too much information (TMI), but there you have it. :)

I'm Sarah (most definitely with an h) and when you're living in the States, I'm your neighbor to the east. Among other things, I love the smell of sheets that have been dried on the line, my girls and their papa (some days more than others), coffee, playing with yarn, when the temperature is just right and I feel as though I'm part of the air around me, waltzing with babies, and the feeling of a cool hand on a warm forehead.

Hi, I'm Mallory. I live in the Twin Cities (Eden Prairie), and I hesitated for a moment about de-lurking until I looked down and remembered that I'm wearing a shirt that I bought from you at the St. Paul Craftstravaganza.

Best thing I've seen today: Bob Barker saying "I'm a homeboy" on the Price is Right, followed closely by James Lipton saying "getting jiggy with it" on Inside the Actor's Studio. Not to pollute the lovely responses about noticing little spots of beauty in the world, but I have a weakness for aging television hosts trying to be uncharacteristically hip.

Loves: knee socks, dandelions, fresh snow, bottomlesss cups of cofee, cat-eye glasses, giving compliments to strangers.

Thanks for the push to de-lurk! I'm a brand new sewer and brand new blogger, so I needed it.

i love
the smell
of
old stairways
[musty
and worn],
the color of
dusk,
the sound of
walking in
wet grass,
all things
striped,
old photographs-
[esp.
with the
crinkley
edges],
the sound
of my
mother's
voice.
. . . . .
just got
back from paris...
love to hear
what you do
when you
are there...

It’s me, Jen. Thank you again for painting the precious little St. Therese block. I gifted it to my niece Maya to celebrate her First Communion at St. Therese Parish in Seattle.

I love little pink roses, the feel of the sun kissing my cheeks and butternut squash soup.

Hi Eireann,

I'm Corina, from Eireann (Ireland!) - the west coast to be a little more specific. It's very wild here at the moment. This de-lurking idea is fantastic, as I have been having peeps at your blog every so often. I mainly scrapbook and alter stuff, and find I can't really take on a project that takes more than one night to complete! Family life gets in the way. Have a darling hubby and daughter aged almost 3. Love all things crafty and have tried many. Have been to France twice, but never Paris....it will happen....soon, hopefully. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, and thanks for the inspiration!

hi there--i've been seeing de-lurking entries all over people's blogs. i love the word. i love to paint, play with clay, write, draw, collage, be outside in nature, play with my new little grandsons, enjoy my daughters as grown women, read good books, watch good movies, hang out with my hubby doing mundane stuff...and some days i wish i were in paris so i check in with your blog....

ok, i too have been lurking around here and other blogs... i'm a friend of martha's (of uniform studio) from minneapolis, and found you via her blog.

there are many things I love, but right now I am particularly enamoured of this engaged community of cyber-women who create, think, and support each other in their endeavors. I really had no idea until recently that you were all out there, and while my relationship w/ you consists mostly of "lurking" at my computer, it really warms my heart and inspires me.

so thanks.

Hi,
I am Allsun from Ireland, living in Germany, just discovered your blog a short while ago and like your sense of creativity.

I love the colour blue, all shades of it. I love travelling long distance on my bicycle, meeting people and tasting, smelling, listening, feeling my way through new and foreign lands, I have passed on this nomadic trait to my children who bring me weird and wonderful things back from their journeys.

I have been knitting and quilting and doing needlepoint, while I have been living and working on four continents so far, trying to capture the colours of whatever place I find myself in at the time.
